Write to the editors.

The quickest way to reach the Implbits editors is by email at editor@implbits.com. We read corrections, reports of commands that behave differently on your system, and questions about checking a file, an image or a document.

How to reach us

Send a plain email to editor@implbits.com. Put the page or topic in the subject line, for example "Correction: verify a download" or "Question: SHA256SUMS on macOS". That helps us route your message to the right guide.

Please do not attach the file you are trying to check. A hash, a file name and a size tell us almost everything we need, and keeping files out of email protects you as well as us. If an image or document matters to your question, describe it, or send a link to where it is published.

We can help with the checks described on this site. We cannot provide HashTab installers, licence keys or support for the old Implbits Software products, and we do not review or certify individual files.

What to include in a correction

A good report lets us reproduce what you saw. Include as much of this as you can:

  • The page address, and the heading or step you are writing about.
  • Your system and version, such as Windows 11 23H2, macOS 15 or Ubuntu 24.04, and the shell you used (PowerShell, Command Prompt, Terminal, bash or zsh).
  • The exact command you ran, copied and pasted rather than retyped.
  • The output you got, including any error message in full.
  • What you expected instead, in a sentence.
  • A source, if you are correcting a fact: a link to the standard, specification, vendor documentation or paper that says otherwise.

If a hash is involved, include the hash you computed, the hash you compared it with, and the algorithm of each. Most mismatches turn out to be a different algorithm or a different file version, and those details settle it quickly.

What happens next

We check each correction against the primary source or by running the command on the system you name. If the page is wrong, we fix it and its updated date changes to show when. If the page is right but unclear, we may reword it so the next reader does not hit the same problem.

We may not reply to every message individually, but every report about a page is read and checked.
